Coaching is a very personal and intimate experience. With that in mind, knowing more about the coach you are working with during your grief journey can be helpful. My own journey with grief began as a teenager when I had multiple friend losses in a short period. Then in 2015 I experienced an unexpected divorce and became a single mom. While I thought my deepest loss would have been my divorce, it wasn’t until my mom died in 2024 that I realized how deep and painful grief could truly be.

Losing my mom put me on a path to working with different specialists and ultimately discovering courses to become a certified grief coach through the ILCT. I have taken courses in cognitive behavioral coaching, wellness coaching, and grief coaching. I believe that grief coaching is multifaceted. In other words, grief isn’t just about death. We grieve due to a variety of life circumstances including divorce, relationships, illness, job loss, and more. As a coach, I support clients through all types of loss, not just the loss of a loved one.

Previous to my experience as a coach, I worked as a teacher for 16 years. I taught 4th grade as well as gifted students in 3rd-7th grade. In many ways, my teaching experience helped prepare me to be a coach as I was often using the same skills when working with students.

My undergraduate degree is in elementary education from Elon University, in North Carolina. My master’s degree is in gifted education from Samford University in Birmingham, AL.
